In April 2023, Naperville’s League of Women Voters released the results report of its 10-month study of the level of transparency in the appointments to municipal boards and commissions by the Mayor and City Council. The report was shared with the mayor’s office and supplemented with one-on-one discussions with the mayor and multiple city council members.
LWVN is pleased to report that on June 29, 2023, new guidelines that reflect positive changes to issues identified in the study were announced by the city.
The new guidelines are available on the city’s website and in a 17-page guide for reading and downloading. Many opportunities are available to participate on Naperville’s boards and commissions.
Visit the city’s website for a list of vacancies and to read the guidelines to learn more about the expectations and scope of serving on specific boards and the application process.
