The rapid spread of false or misleading information can have serious consequences for individuals and society. To combat their effects effectively, it’s essential to differentiate between misinformation and disinformation.
To address the troubling rise of misinformation and disinformation and its impact on our elections, the League of Women Voters of Illinois formed the Mis/Disinformation Task Force in January 2024. The goal of the task force is to educate the general public on misinformation and disinformation.
